Week 4 of Q4 ‘23 Startup League Matches? Completed it mate 👍

Another week, another fine effort for attendance being made. Thank you from all of us here at Startup League once more 🤝

Remember that week 5, will be the last “official” match of the season…then semi finals and finals for the week(s) that follow.

December will be the tournament month that was mentioned in last weeks Startup League newsletter 😉

There’s some interesting stuff for you to read this week…”interesting” might be pushing it in terms of description, but things that you should all know about for sure 🙂

SLIPPIN’ AND SLIDIN’ 💦

Autumn is here…Fall if you must insist on using the terminology of those from the US of A 🇺🇸

This of course means that there is just that little more moisture in the air…”moist” if you will 🍰

What happens when there’s a little more moisture in the air? The pitches that we play on become a little slippery.

So here is what Startup League and Playground Berlin ▶️ staff are planning:

> We will fluff up the astroturf with a brush machine. You can see the fine example of such a machine in the image above…in case you missed it. This should renew the turf somewhat.

> We will then sand the turf. Placing sand on the turf eliminates some of the additional moisture that stays on the turf and in theory, will assist with the pitches becoming less slippery.

> If these systems fail, then we shall allow small studded boots back. However, with the re-introduction of allowing studded boots there of course shall be additional changes. Mainly that players shall be advised to wear shin-guards while playing Startup League matches.

“Mit shinnies”

Controversial - we know. But we think this is a nice happy middle ground for us all to adapt to and embrace just as we all have with the other changes that have happened throughout the years 😘
